Wow, this Cactus Country gal woke up today and found a few followers on the new blog. Blog fairies work late I guess. But here's another video for all you Western fans. I know many may disagree, but I think Brad Pitt makes a great cowboy. http://youtu.be/qp2ppYB9fDo
And a question for today . . . what's your all time favorite western movie?
Here's mine. http://youtu.be/WI2AZb04HAc
Have to agree Pitt makes a good cowboy!
ReplyDeleteBut how would I ever pick a favorite western...would have to be a top 20 list!!! Some in the running, any John Wayne, Who Shot Liberty Valance, Dances with Wolves (I cry), Magnificent Seven, Cheyenne Autumn, etc. Oh and the classic SHANE...liked the book better, taught it for years. It is known as greatest western written and the author never went past Ohio!
Anything with Clint Eastwood.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm with Bookie, to pick a favorite. The Man from Snowy River is a western genre from Australia but was a favorite of mine when it came out in the mid 80's.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite western is the Searchers. It's a little sappy in parts, but when you really think about the story it's amazing. And for a writer it's great because you can see the growth of the main character. And all the editors tell us we have to do that. But I also don't miss a western with Sam Elliot in it, or Tom Selleck. They make pretty good cowboys.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I can't pick just one, either.
ReplyDeleteMy Top Two:
Rio Bravo, 1959
Ride the High Country, 1962
And for a western comedy: Cat Ballou, 1965
They just don't get any better than that! :)
Ride the High Country is a terrific movie. I wonder if it was a book first...that would definitely be a great read.
